Sorry for being such a Bad Blogger lately. The exhaustion and My Darling Son Who Does Nothing But Challenge Us are kicking my tail. And, just to add more fun to the mix, this week I'm really really feeling the nausea, and it's pretty much all day long (and all night too). When Squeaker gets up at night, I can only spend a few minutes with him before I have to get horizontal again. Still not puking, but I have taken to carrying soda crackers wherever I go, and a ziploc bag in my purse, just in case I get sick while commuting. (Commuting is actually really challenging at this point, possibly because I'm prone to motion sickness anyway.) Good times.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy every day to feel this way, because (a) I did ask for this, (b) I know how lucky I am, and (c) the sick feeling gives me comfort that our little stowaway is still alive. But I'm also feeling constant sympathy for women who are very sick throughout their pregnancies. How in the world do they survive?
This Friday will be 11 weeks, the exact time when we lost Sammy. My next scan is a week from today. Needless to say, I'll be holding my breath until then.
****
I'm composing in my head a variety of posts in which I ramble about how to talk to an adopted child about siblings in an open adoption when the siblings don't know their adopted sibling exists, how to explain to neighbors / family / co-workers how and why one becomes pregnant at age 46, and how to explain to kids why one of them came out of mommy's tummy and the other one didn't when the kid who did is conceived entirely by ART. Oh, and one more about fun with the sleep doctors. We're making progress on that front, but lately it feels like one step forward, two steps back.
Stay tuned ...
I know everyone says that it is a placebo effect, but the accupressure bands helped me immensely, and I am also prone to motion sickness. I will be thinking about you as you pass the 11 week mark.

Good luck on the morning sickness. Gah. That sucks.
Fingers crossed for good news on the ultrasound:)

Rooting for you and Baby! My secret "morning" sickness trick was gummy bears and gummy candy, especially the coke bottles. It was literally the only thing I could stomach some days. Luckily the nausea disappeared in the second trimester -- hopefully you are on the home stretch!
