A lot has happened on the frozen embryo front in the last month. If Squeaker would ever sleep more than a few hours in a row, I might have had time to write about it ... sorry!
As I mentioned previously, our local donor family emerged from their month-long silence with apparent gusto to move forward. Within a few weeks, they located their agreement with their egg donor, confirmed that there are no restrictions on their donating the embryos to us, and signed the agreement our lawyer drafted. We took a deep breath and signed too. The embryos should be on their way to our clinic by the end of this week. Gulp!
I'm so grateful to my two bloggy friends who offered us their frozen embryos when our local donors went on hiatus. I've written to both of these wonderful women about our plans, and they know how much I love them and how important their trust in us was at what might otherwise have been a shadowy spot in our journey to child number two. Please send them both all good wishes for happy matches with other hopeful families, if that's the direction they decide to take. They're amazing generous couples, and I'm proud to have them as friends!
So here's today's news:
I'm going to be meeting the mother of my potential kids' siblings! D and I are having lunch tomorrow! We spoke on the phone tonight to confirm it, and it's actually the first time we've spoken in person. This whole thing has been arranged by email, and perhaps that's why the communication has been a little weird. Not everyone has the time for long luxurious bloggy email conversations, particularly not the mother of twins who also works a full-time professional job, as D does. She was as nice as can be on the phone. Of course, Squeaker chose that exact time to throw a temper tantrum, so we couldn't chat long ... She did say that I can ask her all the questions I want to about Mr. D, who is the genetic father of the Frosty Pups (as my childhood friends have taken to calling them), and she's bringing a photo (!!) and other information about the young woman who was their egg donor. I didn't expect that. It's such a gift.
I need to confirm the exact calendar with our clinic, but I should be able to start the meds after this menstrual cycle, which is due any damn day now. Of course, it's possible that the embryos won't survive the thaw, or that I don't get pg from the Frosty Pups. We have a Plan B ready if that happens, because I just feel so much more safe with a Plan B. Obviously, we're hoping we don't need to go there, but if we do, it's a plan I'm quite happy with.
In the meantime, lunch tomorrow should be interesting! I'll report back when I have time.
(The Mister is on a business trip, and I'm wrangling Squeaker on my own. He's been out of bed five times since I put him down tonight, but I just heard snoring on the monitor, so I may actually have an hour to myself before he hops up again. Will this child ever ever ever sleep??????)
Whoo hoo!
